Météo haute saison, mer parfaite, et la meilleure ambiance des fêtes des Caraïbes. Le plan complet de décembre pour Punta Cana.
December delivers the year's best combination of conditions: average daytime 28°C, sea temperatures 26°C, the dry season is fully underway (under 5 rainy days for the month), and the trade winds drop the humidity from the August-September wall of heat. The flip side is that December 20 – January 5 is the busiest two weeks of the year and pricing reflects it.
Dec 1–18 is the sweet spot — full peak-season weather, but pre-holiday prices and zero crowds at the major tours. This is when locals book their own December trips.
Dec 19 – Jan 5 is the holiday surge — 60–80 % price uplift on hotels, every catamaran fully booked 2 weeks ahead, restaurants like La Yola booked 3 weeks ahead. Worth it for the festive energy; book everything in advance.
1. Hotel — December books 6–9 months ahead at the 5-stars. Late October is the latest reasonable booking window for the holiday weeks.
2. Christmas Eve dinner — La Yola, Citrus, SBG and the major resort gala dinners are sold out by early December.
3. New Year's Eve party — Coco Bongo, Imagine and the major resort galas. Tickets 1 month ahead.
4. Saona / Catalina day tour — small-group catamarans sell out 1 week ahead in the holiday weeks. See /en/tours.
5. Private yacht / sunset catamaran — see /blog/en/private-yacht-punta-cana-guide. Book 2 weeks ahead.
6. Private chef night — 3 weeks ahead for the holiday week. See /blog/en/private-chef-punta-cana.
Light layers — evenings can dip to 22°C in mid-December. Long sleeves for the boat (golden-hour wind), reef-safe sunscreen, water shoes for the rocky parts of Macao and Catalina, a light rain jacket for the rare passing shower.
Day 1: arrive, beach. Day 2: Saona small-group catamaran. Day 3: buggy + pool recovery. Day 4: private sunset catamaran. Day 5: Scape Park / Hoyo Azul. Day 6: La Yola or Citrus dinner + Coco Bongo. Day 7: slow + late flight. We build this full itinerary on /en/vip-services if you want it pre-planned.
