#1 — Saona Island: the once-in-a-trip postcard day
If you only book one thing from Meliá Caribe Beach Resort, make it Saona. Speedboat out, natural starfish pool, beach buffet, catamaran sunset return. ~10-hour day, lobby pickup around 7:30 AM — from Bávaro that's an early start, but every Meliá Caribe Beach Resort guest we send comes back saying it was the trip highlight.

#2 — Party Boat catamaran: the half-day everyone remembers
Our most-booked 4-hour catamaran party boat — open bar, Jungle Juice, hookah, snorkel stop and the natural sandbar pool. 3:00–3:30 PM lobby pickup from Meliá Caribe Beach Resort (~15 min to Cabeza de Toro), back by sunset. Adults and bigger kids only; perfect afternoon plug-in on a day you also want pool time at the resort.

#3 — Catalina Island: the quieter snorkel alternative
Catalina is Saona's smaller, calmer cousin — clearer water, fewer crowds, the best snorkel reef on the coast. Same Bayahibe marina, full-day. From Meliá Caribe Beach Resort we recommend this over Saona if your group has divers, photographers, or anyone who finds the Saona crowds too much in peak season.

Two hours of Polaris buggies through Macao backroads, a cave-cenote swim and a sugarcane stop. From Meliá Caribe Beach Resort the ranch is ~25–35 min via the new highway. Pick the morning slot (8 AM pickup) — afternoons get dusty and hot. Wear what you don't mind ruining; we provide goggles and a bandana.

Two hours along the wild Atlantic coast on a calm trail horse — sunrise or sunset, no experience needed. From Meliá Caribe Beach Resort it's a 20–30 min transfer to the Uvero Alto stables. Scape Park's Hoyo Azul cenote + zip-lines + Indigenous Eyes lagoons — a full half-day inside one walkable park. From Meliá Caribe Beach Resort it's a short ride to Cap Cana. Pick this when the marine forecast is rough, when you've got kids 6–12, or as your fourth excursion when the group already did boats and buggies.

Which one first, and how many in a week?
If I'm only at Meliá Caribe Beach Resort for 4 nights, which two do you recommend?+
Saona on day 2 and the catamaran party boat on day 3 (or 4, before flight day). Day 1 is for jetlag and the resort. Don't stack Saona and the catamaran back-to-back — both involve sun + open bar.
Best excursion for kids staying at Meliá Caribe Beach Resort?+
Scape Park (under 10) and Saona Island (any age). Buggies have a 6-year minimum and a height limit; the catamaran party boat is adult-leaning and we don't recommend it under 12.
