How Punta Cana airport transfers work

Punta Cana International Airport (PUJ) sits 15 minutes south of Bávaro. Every flight is met by a fleet of official taxis (government tariff), shared resort shuttles (6+ hotel stops), and private transfer drivers. We're in the third category: one vehicle per booking, your name on a sign at arrivals, and a fixed price you confirm on WhatsApp before you fly.

We track your flight number, so a delay never costs you the ride — and the first 60 minutes after touchdown are free wait time, in case immigration is slow.

Prices by destination (2026)

All prices are per vehicle, one-way, in USD, all-in (tolls and meet-and-greet included). Round-trip discount: subtract $20.

Private vs shared vs taxi — which one to pick

Shared shuttle ($15–25 pp) is the cheapest line item, but it stops at 4–6 other resorts before yours — a 20-minute ride often becomes 90 minutes. Skip it if you've been flying for 8+ hours.

Airport taxi ($45 to Bávaro) works fine if you're solo with one bag — but the curbside hustle, the upsell to a 'better' car, and the lack of car-seats make it a poor fit for families.

Private transfer ($35–89 per vehicle) is what we recommend for everyone else: same price for 1 or 3 passengers, included child seats, bottled water, AC SUV, and a driver who already knows your hotel's security gate code.

Hotel coverage — every resort zone

We pick up and drop off at every hotel, Airbnb, and private villa in the Punta Cana region:

VIP fast-track — skip the immigration line

Saturday arrivals between 13:00 and 18:00 can mean a 45-minute wait at PUJ immigration. Our VIP fast-track service meets you at the jet bridge, walks you through a private lane, handles luggage, and escorts you straight to your transfer vehicle. $69 solo, $39 each for groups of 2+. The departure version saves an hour at peak Sunday returns.

FAQ

Common questions

How much is a Punta Cana airport transfer?+

From $30 (Cap Cana, 1–3 pax) to $129 (Uvero Alto van for 9–15 pax). The full table is in the section above. Prices are per vehicle, not per person, and include tolls and meet-and-greet.

Is the transfer cheaper than a taxi?+

For 2+ passengers, yes — a curbside taxi to Bávaro is around $45 for one person and goes up with each extra bag, while our private SUV is $35 flat for up to 3 passengers and 3 bags.

What happens if my flight is delayed?+

We track every flight in real time. Pickup is automatically pushed back — you don't pay extra for delays, and the first 60 minutes after the new arrival time are free wait.

Do you provide child / baby seats?+

Yes, free of charge — just tell us the child's age when you book (infant, toddler, or booster). Required by Dominican law under age 7.

Can I pay in cash on arrival?+

Yes. USD, EUR and Dominican pesos accepted. Card and bank transfer also work if you prefer to pre-pay.

Do you transfer to Casa de Campo and Bayahibe?+

Yes — PUJ to La Romana / Bayahibe is 1 h 30 on the toll highway, $119 for 1–3 pax in a private SUV. SDQ pickup also available.

Is Uber an option at PUJ?+

Uber works in Bávaro for short rides but pickup at PUJ arrivals is unreliable (the airport zone has limited driver coverage and surge pricing on weekends). For the airport leg specifically, a pre-booked transfer is more predictable.

How early should I book?+

48 hours ahead is comfortable. Last-minute (same day) is usually fine too — message us on WhatsApp and we'll confirm availability within minutes.
