What a private yacht charter actually includes

Standard private yacht charter (Cap Cana Marina or Cabeza de Toro): your captain + mate, fuel, drinks (rum, beer, water, soft drinks; premium spirits BYO or add USD 200), light buffet or ceviche-style lunch, snorkel gear, towels, music via Bluetooth. Itinerary is yours — typical 4-h half-day = swim stop at natural pool/Palmilla + Juanillo Beach lunch + cruise back. 8-h full day adds Saona-area swim stops or a beach club lunch at Api Beach.

Real prices 2026 by boat size & duration

35 ft Sea Ray (up to 8 pax): USD 1,400 half / USD 2,400 full. 46 ft Azimut (up to 12 pax): USD 2,000 half / USD 3,200 full. 60 ft Sunseeker (up to 18 pax): USD 3,500 half / USD 5,800 full. 80 ft mega-yacht (up to 25 pax): USD 6,500 half / USD 10,500 full. Sunset cruise 2.5 h: USD 1,100 (small) to USD 2,400 (60 ft). Prices include captain, fuel, open bar, snacks; tip 10–15% standard.

Yacht vs shared catamaran — when each wins

Shared catamaran (USD 60–95/p, 40–80 pax) wins on pure price and social atmosphere. Private yacht wins on: pickup time (you set), itinerary (you set), capacity (group of 8 fills a yacht; 8 on a 60-pax cat is lost), music (your Spotify), comfort (no queue for bathroom), photos (no strangers). Break-even: a group of 8+ paying USD 90–120/p on a shared cat is the same per-head as a small private yacht — and you get full control. See yacht vs catamaran.

FAQ

Common questions

Where do yacht charters depart from?+

Three marinas: Marina Cap Cana (biggest fleet, most luxury boats, best for Juanillo / Palmilla itineraries), Cabeza de Toro Marina (closer to Bávaro hotels, mid-range boats), Bayahibe (for Saona-area combos). Pickup at any hotel is included.

How much for a yacht for 8 people?+

USD 1,400 half-day (4 h) on a 35–40 ft Sea Ray / Azimut from Cap Cana — that's USD 175/p, including captain, fuel, open bar, snacks. Same boat full-day (8 h): USD 2,400.

What is included?+

Captain + mate, fuel, open bar (national rum, beer, soft drinks, water, basic mixers), light buffet (fruit, cheese, ceviche or chicken), snorkel masks + fins, towels, Bluetooth speaker, ice. Premium spirits, gourmet catering, DJ, photographer are paid add-ons.

What is NOT included?+

Tip for captain & mate (10–15% standard), USD 30/p national park fee if you go to Saona area, premium alcohol beyond house rum/beer, specialty catering (sushi, lobster), dock fee if you choose to stop at a different marina. We send a clear price sheet before booking — no surprises.

Is a yacht worth it vs a catamaran?+

For 8+ people: yes — same per-head as a shared catamaran with full control over time, route, music, and crew. For 2 people: probably not — a shared sunset catamaran at USD 75/p will be 90% of the experience. See our yacht vs catamaran decision page.

Can I do a yacht with kids?+

Yes — calm Cap Cana / Palmilla itinerary, life jackets in all sizes, captain anchors in waist-deep water at natural pools. Mention ages on booking and the crew brings extra noodles and a kid-friendly playlist. Children under 4 free.

Best yacht itinerary for honeymoons?+

60 ft Sunseeker half-day from Cap Cana, sunset slot (3:30–6:30 pm). Stops at Palmilla swim, champagne aboard at sunset, optional onboard dinner add-on (USD 280 for 2). Around USD 3,500 total — and you have the boat to yourselves.

How far in advance to book?+

High season (Dec–Apr): 3+ weeks for weekends, 1 week midweek. Low season (Sep–Oct): 48 h is usually fine. Sunset slots book fastest because the window is small. We hold with 30% deposit, balance day-of.
